1. When’s the best time to visit?
Anytime is a good time! It really depends on what you want to see and do. Most people visit here around July and August, primarily because that is the warmest time of the year, and also peak vacation season.
2. What is the weather like?
The weather at Gros Morne is often unpredictable, so be prepared for the worst! Spring comes late at Gros Morne, in mid-may most of the hiking trails are still covered in snow. July and August brings sunnier and warmer weather, with temperatures ranging from 16°C (61°F) to 25°C(77°F). The weather is more
pleasant from September to October, with snow already falling at higher elevations. In the winter, the weather is more unsettled and wet, with temperatures ranging from -10°C (14 °F) to 0°C (32°F). There is at least a 10°
drop in temperature at higher elevations.

6. What is the climate like in the boreal forest?
The boreal forest (also known as the taiga) has a subarctic climate. Winters are
cold and wet, sometimes even colder than temperatures in the tundra, the coldest
biome in the world. Summers though, are warm and dry, with high temperatures.
7.When was Gros Morne established?
Gros Morne national reserve was established in 1973. It wasn’t until 2005 though
that it was established as a Canadian National Park.
8. How was Gros Morne formed?
Gros Morne is the by- product of plate tectonics and years of continental drift, forming the beautiful scenery that we see here today. For more information on how Gros Morne came to be, check out the About page.
9. Are there any plans to protect this park and it’s diverse wildlife?
Yes! In 2009 the Gros Morne National Park Management Plan was created, with its main
goal to the ecological system of Gros Morne. Some other plans implemented
are
Migratory Bird Convention Act -- established in 1994, it is an act to put forth a convention for the
protection of migratory birds in Canada and the United States
Canadian Environmental Assessment Act -- the purpose of this act is to aid sustainable development of a project, but also eliminate or minimize and of the potential damages that project could bring
to the environment. Established in 2012.
Environmental Protection Act ---the purpose is to provide for the conservation and protection of the natural
environment. Established in 1990.
10. What are some of the different species at Gros Morne?
Gros Morne is filled with a variety of species. There are about 700 species of flowering plants and 400 species of bryophytes), and an estimated 400 species of lichens. Animal wise, some of the most popular animals at Gros Morne are Moose, Woodland Caribou, Red Foxes, and Black Bears.
