The Abiotic and Biotic Factors of the Boreal Forest
Abiotic factors are nonliving factors that affect living organisms. In the Boreal Forest Biome, such
examples of these factors would be precipitation (rain, snow, etc.), temperature (warm in the summer, below-freezing in the winter), lakes, rocks, rivers, and mountains. Biotic factors on the other hand, are living factors that affect other organisms and help shape the ecosystem. Organisms such as Woodland Caribou, Red Foxes, Boreal Owls, American Marten, Black Spruce, Moose, Red Squirrels, and Balsam Fir would all be considered biotic factors of the Boreal forest biome. |
